Pain

Pain is nature's signal that something is wrong. There is physical, sensory pain and there is emotional pain. Genearlly the boundary between these two experiences tends to blur, though earth signs tend to emphasize sensation while water signs emotion.

Pisces and Virgo are the signs most attuned to pain. They have opposite approaches to dealing with it.

Pisces considers pain to be a part of life, an inevitable aspect of being alive. Pain comes and goes, just like everything else. For the most part one can only feel it, suffer through it as best one can. This helps it to pass. When the pain is too much, is overwhelming, Pisces leaves the scene - withdrawing, escaping, spacing out. Pisces anesthetizes itself. All water signs tend be empathetic; Pisces feels the pain of others as much as its own. Its deep compassion leads it to do what it can to ease their suffering.

Virgo sees pain as a problem to be solved. It uses its analytical mind to diagnose the problem, to uncover the cause of the pain. Once discovered, Virgo crafts a solution - not just for this one time, but to prevent future suffering. While Virgo gets much satisfaction from healing others, it expects them to "pull themselves together" as soon as possible.
