Mercury

Mercury represents the constant intake of sensation, the ongoing flow of experience. With Mercury we begin to see the repeating patterns in that flow, and create mental representions of them. We give these patterns names - Mercury is the verbal part of the psyche. Further, Mercury weaves an internal model of experience, associating one pattern with another, and with another. Not content with just this internal process, Mercury revels in communicating its experience to others, and takes in their verbalized experience as still more information to be added to the model.
