The thing is, sometimes circumstances change, and to succeed you have to change, adapt. This you would just as soon not do. And so you put a lot of energy into creating a safe place, a home within which you do not have to change. You can just be yourself, that is, the way you have always been. You wrap yourself in the past like a cozy quilt. Sometimes you do attempt to accomplish something in the world, but when it gets too hard you have such a strong tendency to just give up. You tell yourself it doesn't really matter. Nonetheless as time goes on a sense of failure, of unfulfilled potential increases within you.
North Node in the Tenth HouseYou begin to discover there is a part of you that expects more. Being is not sufficient; the focus is on becoming. You have goals, and they take you out of your comfortable home into the world. You want to accomplish something, not just for yourself but to make a contribution to the world. You find that the world has its own expectations for you. You must jump through ever-more challenging hoops as you earn the respect of worldly authorities. Along with this respect comes a role - a responsibility in the social structure. Succeed here, and the world rewards you with increasing authority and responsibility as well as recognition, prestige, and probably lots of money.
