Water

Water turns away from air's external and objective orientation, moving deeply inward. Driven by subjectively experienced needs, water seeks connection with others through emotional merging. Two become one.

Water is the final phase of the elemental cycle. It completes the developmental process, distilling the experiences and energies of the cycle into a feeling essence. Distinctions dissolve into a commonality of meaning accessible through the emotions.

Water's feelings, mostly unconscious, present currently relevant glimpses to the conscious mind. As such they serve the present by preserving the wisdom of the past. Beyond this we must notice that each water sign is followed by the fire sign of the next cycle. Water's distilled essence is passed along to fire, becoming the ideal to be manifested anew.

Cancer

Cancer's feelings are centered on its family. They are a part of itself, an extension of its own identity. Their needs are Cancer's needs. It takes care of them and needs the same in return. Cancer's past fills its present. In turn, Cancer pours all that it is into its children - its future.

Scorpio

Scorpio needs intimacy. Nothing held back, a passionate, total opening to the connection. The needs and values of the other, at first so different, are taken in and integrated into the self. This emotional committment is passed along to Sagittarius and serves as the basis for a communal identity.

Pisces

Pisces is the final sign of both its elemetal cycle as well as the entire twelve sign developmental cycle. Pisces lives in emotional essence - the place where we all meet and merge. All of its experience as both an individual and social being is distilled and released to the collective unconscious, to be taken up and manifested in a new form, in a new cycle, by Aries.
