Earth

The firey thrust forward and outward slows down and curves back upon itself in earth. A stabilizing urge to contain and structure the impulse emerges. Pure action is no longer enough; with earth we see a more purposeful focus on practical results.

Earth desires stability and security; it slowly and carefully builds a structure that will last. It conserves and maintains. Within the structure everything has its proper place, performing its assigned function.

While fire's goal is to bring something into being, earth's goals focus on what already exists. Earth values acquisition and practical accomplishment. It is willing to work long and hard to get what it wants.

Taurus

As the first earth sign, Taurus begins the process of stabilizing and containing. Taurus keeps what it has and seeks to get more of what it wants. Purposeful and methodical, Taurus conserves its energy as it builds up it resources. It desires sensory pleasure and comfort, and thus values the material possessions that bring this.

Virgo

Virgo finds security in the development and mastery of skills. It constantly works hard, perfecting its craft and eradicating errors. It is organized and meticulous. It uses tools, including its analytical mind, to solve problems and repair structures. Its strong boundaries reject anything that would disrupt its control.

Capricorn

As the most developed of the earth signs, Capricorn fully identifies with society. It finds security through fitting into the social structure, accomplishing socially valued goals. It finds its place in a responsible role, helping to maintain the social staus quo and furthering the aims of society.
