The Opposition

When two planets are approximately one hundred eighty degrees apart in a chart, we say they oppose one another, their relationship an opposition. This is a strongly challenging aspect. The parts of the psyche represented by the planets find themselves directly opposing one another. It feels like either they are pulling in opposite directions, or trying to push each other out of the way. This conflict is highly dynamic, generating a lot of energy. Saturn must mediate, using the energy to create a structure that makes good use of the planetary functions while minimizing their mutual disruptiveness.
